Initial criteria
- age ≥ 18 years
- low platelet counts at baseline (example < 75 x 10^9/L)
- patient will be receiving interferon-based therapy for chronic hepatitis C
- prescribed by or in consultation with a gastroenterologist, hepatologist, or infectious disease specialist
